Obituary for Consuelo Gudino de Cruz

Consuelo Gudiño de Cruz , 91 passed away on August 19th in her home in Lemoore surrounded by her family who never left her side.

Consuelo was born in Pajacuarán, Michoacán on June 19, 1930. Consuelo first immigrated to the US with her husband in the early 1970’s. She was a very humble, loving, and loyal wife and mother. She was very hardworking spending her working days in field work and taking care of grandchildren.

She loved the kitchen; from making fresh flour tortillas, gorditas, and caldos and sopes. Her frijoles fritos were legendary. Friends, family and strangers who visited her home would walk away at least several pounds heavier. She wanted to feed everybody.

She loved the scent of jasmine flowers and loved early morning strolls through the farm, especially during the almond and cherry blossom seasons. She loved leafing through chisme and echate paca magazines and National Geographic too. She loved watching her telenovelas and lucha libre, (always cheering for the smaller guy fighting the giants). She loved Johnny Cash lyrics. And loved antiquing and yard sales and finding great deals.

One of her biggest accomplishments was studying for the citizenship test and becoming a citizen of the United States at the age of 77.

Her true joy was reading the Bible and reciting the rosary. She was a woman of strong faith and conviction and believed in one truth. She also adored her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was devoted to his mother Holy Mary ever Virgin.

She is survived by her six daughters; Lupe, Chuche, Socorro, Carmen, Connie, Ana, and a son Alfonso, and dozens of grandchildren and great grandchildren and was predeceased by daughter Rosita, Maria Elena Cruz, her sons José Luis Cruz and Francisco Cruz, and loving husband Francisco Ceja Cruz.
