Dewayne Leon Shults, beloved husband, father, and grandfather went to our Lord on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. He was born to Hugh and Lou Ella Shults on Jan. 1, 1941 in Vinita Oklahoma. Shortly thereafter, the family including his older brother Leroy, moved to Avenal California where his younger sister Leann was born. Dewayne lived in Avenal his whole life- marrying Mable, his devoted wife of 59 years and raising his family: Brenda Lee, Dewayne “Buddy” Leon Jr., Hugh Lowell, and Kurt Lance. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Dewayne retired from a thirty-five year career with PG&E in 1995 and spent his retirement enjoying hunting, fishing, and maintaining the Avenal Gun Club’s shooting range, where he has been a lifelong member. Memorial services for Dewayne will be announced at a future day. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society in his name.
