Margaret entered eternal life on September 9, 2022, just shy of her 98th birthday. She was born in Post, Texas to Pansy Christine and John Alfred Green, she was one of twelve children. In 1941 she met her future husband Jim Lowe while in Roaring Springs, Texas. Later that year, Jim left for California to find work, returning in 1943 to marry Margaret. They then went back to California where Jim worked for the Giffen Ranch and raised their three children at the Huron Giffen Headquarters. Jim eventually became the superintendent of Giffen Farms, until starting their own farm in 1974.
Margaret was a homemaker and what a blessed home it was. She is remembered for having an immaculately clean home where everything had its place, and likewise in her personal appearance, always smartly dressed. The family remembers the special food and dessert recipes which continue to be handed down. The grandchildren remember sleepovers with the cousins at Grandma’s house. The wonderful memories of Grandma taking them fishing, to Peden’s Drive-in for frostys, always at the ready with a stick of Wrigleys gum for you, and Fruit Loops on Saturday mornings.
After Jim passed in 1983, Margaret started traveling. She traveled to many European and Mediterranean countries with church friends and travel groups. She also traveled to many U.S. destinations. She was part of a bridge card group for years and enjoyed a good cross word puzzle. Later in life, when she started to slow down, she truly enjoyed having dinners with family and friends. Many a dinner she either prepared or was the guest of honor.
Margaret is survived by her son Steve Lowe and his wife Delores, their three sons Jim and wife Dawnda, Joseph, and Jared and wife Charlee.
