Obituary for Virgil Summers

Virgil Craig Summers was born January 12, 1957 to parents, Walter Julian and Emma Gertrude Young Summers at 303 W. Watson Street in Selma, NC and was delivered by his paternal grandmother, Lucy Butler Summers-Tobin, a midwife. He departed this life on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 8:00 A.M.
He grew up in Selma and joined St. John A.M.E. Church at an early age where he was baptized, sang in the youth choir and served as an usher.
He graduated from SSS High School in Smithfield, NC in 1975 and later from DeVry University in GA. He worked for various industries in their Electronics Departments and finally for Motorola as an Electronic Technician. During the economic downsizing of Motorola, he retired and moved to Lemoore, CA.
Virgil was married to Teresa Charlene Pierce of Zebulon who preceded him in death. To this union, they were blessed with two daughters, Shelly Nicole Summers-Toliver and Natasha ShaMein Summers.
Virgil loved fishing, gardening and music especially playing his guitars and keyboards. His love for animals (dogs and cats) ensured that there was always one around. He was always fun to be with and enjoyed social gatherings especially cooking out. He could fix almost anything.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister, Brenda Summers, also a brother, Jeremiah Haynes of FL.
He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his loving memories , a sister, Sylvia Cox (James) of Woodbridge, VA; his daughters: Shelly Toliver (Rico) of East Point, GA, and Natasha Summers of Union City, GA; seven grandchildren: Kennedy Nicole, Rico Marsano, Brooklyn Chanel, Makyla Taliyah, Jordan Michelle, Myles Grayson, Terrence Treyvon all of GA; a very special friend, Shirlene Major, of Lemoore, CA, one maternal aunt and uncle , cousins, nieces, nephews, numerous other relatives and friends who mourn his death and praise his life.
